Looking Back: Acapulco, Mexico

This is another travel adventure from my time on the ship:

On 2/1 we docked in Acapulco.  I was not particularly drawn to Acapulco - it just seemed too commercialized and too Americanized - I felt like I was in Daytona Beach or some other U.S. spring break location.  However, there were some lovely spots like the Chapel of Peace and Trouyet Cross which were privately built as a memorial for two sons who lost their lives; the Los Flamingo Hotel - an old Hollywood hangout once owned by John Wayne (I couldn't get a good photo of the hotel); the historic San Diego Fort; and the famous cliff divers who were amazing.
